A frost free hose bib installation puts the shutoff back inside the warm wall, so the exposed part drains and cannot freeze. Even with one, it is smart to winterize outdoor faucets by shutting off and draining them and disconnecting hoses, especially in the mountains. A hose left attached can trap water and crack the bib in a freeze.
What is an anti-siphon valve or vacuum breaker?
It is a backflow device on your outdoor tap that stops hose water from being siphoned back into your drinking water. When it drips or fails, anti siphon valve repair or vacuum breaker replacement restores that protection.
