Why is my disposal humming but not spinning?
A garbage disposal humming but not spinning is jammed. Turn off the switch and the power first, and never put your hand inside. Many units have a hex slot on the bottom and a reset button to free the jam, and if that does not work, the unit may need service or replacement.
